Do I need a visa for Malaysia?

Fill in the MDAC before you fly
Travellers entering Malaysia must submit a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before travel, and airlines may ask for it at check-in. Use only the official site, imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main. The Malaysian Immigration website lists who is exempt.

British tourists are normally allowed 90 days on arrival. Other nationalities should check their own allowance. Work, study or longer stays need a visa arranged before travel.

Even a short overstay can lead to a fine, detention, deportation at your own cost or a ban on returning. Check the stay granted on your entry record.

Declare cash of US$10,000 or more
You must declare cash or travellers' cheques worth US$10,000 or more. Taking ringgit worth US$10,000 or more into or out of Malaysia needs prior approval.

Health
Yellow fever certificate if arriving from a risk country
You need a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are coming from a country listed as a transmission risk. This does not apply to direct flights from most of Europe or North America.
